A note about this class: Participants must bring their own vessel to pour into. Choosing the right vessel is important for both safety and success, so please review the following guidelines before selecting one:

1. Heat-safe materials only. Choose vessels made from non-flammable, heat-resistant materials such as ceramic, glass, or metal. Avoid plastic, thin glass, or anything that could melt, crack, or burn when exposed to heat.

2. Sturdy and stable. Make sure your vessel has a solid base and thick enough walls to withstand the heat from melted wax (especially for ceramic or glass containers). For example, thrifted ceramic mugs or small bowls with a good weight to them are excellent choices.

3. Metal tins are great. Upcycled fish tins or other small metal containers make charming and safe candle vessels, as long as they’re cleaned thoroughly and free of sharp edges or coatings that could burn.

4. Specialty jars can work too. Certain yogurt jars, like La Fermière’s ceramic or glass ones, are perfectly suited for candle making because they’re designed to handle temperature changes and look beautiful when reused.

5. Size matters. Aim for vessels that hold between 4–8 ounces of wax for best results. Smaller or unusually shaped containers can make it tricky to place wicks properly or achieve even burning.
