Modern Kintsugi

2h 30m | $65 - $115

Join us to learn about Kintsugi (Kin-(t)sue-ghee), a Japanese craft of mending broken objects with gold and celebrating their repair and transformation.

    • Discover the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, through which we can practice embracing the imperfect, incomplete, and Impermanent nature of the world that we live in

    • Learn about traditional methods of Kintsugi and some ways that contemporary artists have adapted the craft using modern materials to make the practice more accessible

    • Take a moment for you to embrace the meaning of Kintsugi into your world

    • Go on a healing journey as you break, then repair a ceramic object with gold (and learn the techniques and tips for the repair process)

We will provide everything you need, including a ceramic vessel to break and repair. If you have your own broken item you are welcome to bring it to review with our instructor and even get started on in class!
